History of Camp Woolsey

Ottawa's Girl Guide Camp

For over 80 years the Ottawa Girl Guides have made Camp Woolsey their weekend and summer home. Located along the Ottawa River, the camp has witnessed a lifetime of campers’ memories and adventures, everything from royal visits to trouble with canvas tents. In the spring of 2017, the decision was made to close and sell off all the Ontario Girl Guide Camps.

Over the past few years, I have been working on a history of Camp Woolsey and I'm hoping to share my findings with the larger Woolsey community.

All in a Day with Alan Neal: Group trying to save local Girl Guide camp

 July 6, 2017

"The Girl Guide camps heading for closure are filled with decades of memories. We met one camp grad who's gathering stories and artifacts from the 80-year history of Camp Woolsey in West Carleton. And another who's already working on a plan to save it."
